Which religion is more anti-gay, Christianity or Islam?

Yesterday's post was a bit misleading.

Yes, it's true that the Bible is more anti-gay that the Quran, since the Bible commands believers to kill homosexuals while the Quran does not. And yet a majority of U.S. Christians believe homosexuality is morally acceptable, and very few believe that homosexuals should be punished with death. The same cannot be said about modern Muslims.

So if the Bible is more anti-gay than the Quran, why are Muslims more anti-gay than Christians? The answer to that question is simple. His name is Muhammad (PB&J be upon him).

Muslims believe that Muhammad was the perfect and final messenger of God and that his words, thoughts, and actions (as recorded in the sunnah) should be obeyed, followed, and imitated by everyone. Although there is some disagreement among Muslims about which stories (hadith) about Muhammad are authentic, all describe a Muhammad who was vehemently and violently anti-gay.

Here are some examples from the hadith.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If you find anyone doing as Lot's people did, kill the one who does it, and the one to whom it is done. - Abu Dawud 38:4447

If a man who is not married is seized committing sodomy, he will be stoned to death. - Abu Dawud 38:4448

The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) cursed the man who dressed like a woman and the woman who dressed like a man. - Abu Dawud 32:4087

And then there's this from Islam Question and Answer:
The Sahaabah were unanimously agreed on the execution of homosexuals, but they differed as to how they were to be executed. Some of them were of the view that they should be burned with fire, which was the view of ‘Ali (may Allaah be pleased with him) and also of Abu Bakr (may Allaah be pleased with him), as we shall see below. And some of them thought that they should be thrown down from a high place then have stones thrown at them. This was the view of Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him).
You just can't get more anti-gay that that!

And yet there is hope for reform in Islam. Christians and Jews learned long ago to ignore the cruel command in Leviticus 20:13. Muslims could do the same with similar statements in the hadith. But until the vast majority of Muslims do that, Islam will be more anti-gay than Christianity.

@Bob:
So, do you follow and believe and practice everything as written in the Old Testament?

Homosexuality is not a special sin. All people have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). For Goodness' sake, we're only human. That's why we have to turn to God and repent of any and all sin, accepting and following Jesus.

Leviticus is tricky. It is Old Testament Law. When Moses was leading the Israelites they weren't the best people, and he wasn't a perfect leader. Everyone was being put to death for everything, not just homosexuality.

Their sins were especially disruptive, because God wanted to be close to them, and needed to help them in their struggle. Their sin was a barrier.

Obviously if you go on to the New Testament you see God kills part of himself to forgive the sins of all people. All they have to do is accept Jesus and try to stop sinning, to say He's worth it.

I could go deeper into context, but you'll probably assume I'm just being apologetic, but hey, what do we have to lose?

It looks to me like the most common comment here is bots posting junk for their businesses. You have to remember that certain laws and punishments were under a Theocracy, which we are certainly not. Moses, yes, was not a perfect man, but that has nothing to do with scripture, as he did not invent it. It is not his own ideas. God inspired him to write the law.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16, 17, KJV.

And the law is right. The law concludes ALL under sin. Then the New Testament shows God's grace. When Christ saved the woman caught in adultery, does he say she did not deserve punishment? But he gave her grace.

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” Romans 3:19-20

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10

This is not scholarly written. You forgot to mention that this hadith is weak in narration. 2 out of 4 famous sunni schools I.e Hanafi and Shafi'i schools of thought said in Medieval era that Homosexuality is not punishable by death. Third one Maliki didn't consider this hadith sahih yet said homosexuality is punishable by death. In Islamic laws it is not easy to punish homosexuals unless they themselves confess or commit in public. otherwise it is nearly impossible to find 4 male witnesses unlike bible where 2 witnesses are required.
