EJ&T Joel - Malachi: Get drunk and naked, prepare for war, and walk humbly with your God

In the Every Jot and Tittle project, I am listing all of the Bible's commandments from Genesis to Revelation, in accordance with Jesus's words in Matthew 5:18-19. I have no idea how many commandments I'll find, but Jewish tradition claims there are 613. See here for a list of those that I've found so far.

  1. Wake up, you drunkards; weep and howl, because your wine is cut off.
  2. Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth. Joel 1:5

  3. Mourn like a virgin in sackcloth for the husband of her youth.
  4. Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth. Joel 1:8

    Mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. James 4:9

  5. Fast, call an assembly, blow a trumpet, and sound an alarm on God's holy mountain.

  7. Prepare for war.
  8. Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruninghooks into spears. Joel 3:9-10

  9. Seek good and avoid evil.

  13. Walk humbly with God.

  19. Howl.

  31. Ask God for rain in the time of the latter rain.

  33. Feed the flock of the slaughter.

  35. Let the dead be dead, and let everyone else eat the flesh of another.

  37. Be kind to your wife.
  38. Let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. ... Take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously. Malachi 2:15-16

  39. Bring the tithes into the storehouse.
  40. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house. Malachi 3:10
