Brucker's ASAB -- and was Jesus the (7th generation) son of a son of a bastard?

Some of you may recall Brucker's Bad News Bears post, which was a Christian response to God's 103rd killing. It is still the only response (after nearly four years) that I've had to my challenge to Christians, though I often get general excuses which can be summarized in this way: "God can kill whomever he wants, whenever he wants, anyway that he wants, for any reason he wants."

Brucker started the Annotated Skeptic's Annotated Bible back in 2005, beginning with Genesis 1, intending, I believe, to blog through the entire Bible. And he continued for for a few years until he finally got bogged down somewhere in Second Samuel. It was a valiant attempt, and I enjoyed reading his posts (though I seldom agreed with him) and I tried to put links to his posts at the bottom of the SAB's chapters.

Well, Brucker is back at it again, this time starting with Matthew. You can find his first post here.

Brucker's posts are especially interesting to me because he often points out things that I missed before. In his second paragraph of the Matthew 1 post, for example, Brucker brings up Jesus's questionable pedigree.

Jesus, according to Mathew 1:3-5, had a  seventh great grandfather (Phares) that was (from the Bible's point of view, anyway) a bastard.

And God said this in Deuteronomy 23:1:
A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.
So Jesus should never have entered the congregation of the Lord -- and yet God not only let him into the congregation, he made him king over it.

It looks like another contradiction to me.

Who is the most blessed woman (according to the Bible)?

Since tomorrow (March 25) is The Feast of the Annunciation of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, I thought I'd ask this question: Who is the most blessed woman according to the Bible?

To Catholics, of course, there is only one answer: Mary

And there's good biblical justification for their belief, from the annunciation story in the Gospel of Luke.

You remember this story, right? The one where the angel Gabriel stopped by Nazareth to visit the Most Blessed Virgin Mary and say the rosary with her?

OK, not really. He stopped by to tell her that the Holy Ghost would soon be getting her pregnant the way he did her cousin Elizabeth. But during his visit he did manage to come up with the first half of the "Hail Mary."
The angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. Luke 1:26-28
So Mary, then, according to the angel Gabriel and the Gospel of Luke, is "blessed among women."

But is she the most blessed of all women? Are there any other women in the Bible that can compete with her blessedness?

How about Jael, for example?

In Judges 4, Jael offers food and shelter to a traveler (Sisera), saying "turn in my Lord ... fear not." Then after giving him a glass of milk and tucking him in, she drives a tent stake through his head.

For murdering her guest while he slept, Jael is called "blessed above women." (Hail Jael, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women....?)
Blessed above women shall Jael ... be, blessed shall she be above women ...
He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth butter in a lordly dish.
She put her hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workmen's hammer; and with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote off his head, when she had pierced and stricken through his temples ... there he fell down dead. Judges 5:
So surely Jael is in the running for the most blessed of all women.

Or how about Judith?

Judith's story is not found in Protestant Bibles. But it is in Catholic ones, which include the Deuterocanonical Book of Judith.

Here's the relevant story from chapter 13, where Judith, with God's approval and assistance, decapitated the drunken Holfernes while he slept.
They were all overcharged with wine....
Holofernes lay on his bed, fast asleep, being exceedingly drunk...
Judith stood before the bed praying...
Saying: Strengthen me, O Lord ... that I may bring to pass ... that it might be done by thee...
When she had said this, she ... loosed his sword...
And ... she took him by the hair of his head, and said: Strengthen me, O Lord...
And she struck twice upon his neck, and cut off his head...
And ... she ... delivered the head of Holofernes to her maid, and bade her put it into her wallet. Judith 13:2-11
For cutting off the head of a drunken man as he slept, Judith is blessed by God "above all woman."
Blessed art thou, O daughter, by the Lord the most high God, above all women upon the earth.
The Lord ... directed thee to the cutting off the head ... Thy praise shall not depart out of the mouth of men ... for ever. Judith 13:23-25
So, I don't know for sure, of course, but I think Judith wins the prize. She is "blessed ... above all women upon the earth."  Whereas Jael is "blessed above women" so I think she deserves the silver. And poor old Mary is only "blessed among women", so she gets the bronze.

Maybe Pope Francis should institute a new feast: The Feast of Judith, Blessed Above All Women and demote Mary to just one of the several blessed women.

Woe is everyone!

My last post showed that God is woe. But he's got plenty of woe company.

Here's a list of woe people in the Bible.
  1. Early rising, all-day drinkers

    Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!  Isaiah 5:11

  2. Drinkers, drunkards, and bartenders

    Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and ... mingle strong drink. Isaiah 5:22

    Woe to ... the drunkards ... that are overcome with wine! Isaiah 28:1

    Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken. Habakkuk 2:15

  3. People with unclean lips

    Three more ways that Muhammad is better than Jesus

    In a previous post, I discussed the important question: who had the most powerful spit, Jesus or Muhammad?

    But what about the other characteristics of Jesus and Mo?

    Well, here are three more ways that the founders of the two largest religions can be compared. (Information about Muhammad is from the Ash-Shifa.)

    1. Mo had pure women ancestors all the way back to Eve. 

      From the time of Prophet Adam … there was neither an adulterer nor fornicator in the lineage of the Prophet, all were officially married. p.13

      A line of no less than five hundred female ancestors of the Prophet ... He too verified that none had fornicated. p.13

      Jesus didn't. (His 47th or so great grandfather was the son of a prostitute.)

      It was told Tamar, saying, Behold thy father in law goeth up to Timnath to shear his sheep. ... When Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot; because she had covered her face. And he said ... let me come in unto thee ... And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him. ... And  twins were in her womb. ... Pharez and Zarah. Genesis 38.13-28

      Jesus ... being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli ... [46 or so generations] ... which was the son of Phares. Luke 3.33

    2. Mo was born already circumcised. 

      When the Prophet … was born he was already circumcised and his umbilical cord cut. … He was clean when he was born. p.46

      Jesus wasn't. 

      When eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS.  Luke 2:21

    3. Mo was endowed with the sexual power of forty men and had sex with all of his wives every night. 

      There is, however, an extra virtue the satisfaction of satisfying a wife's need. The Prophet … was given an abundance of this ability and would visit all of his wives in the same hour. Anas and his companions concluded that he had been given the power of thirty men. p.56

      In the matter of sexual intercourse, the Prophet was endowed with the power of forty men. After having visited each wife he would take a purification bath before going to the next and said, "This is better and purer." p.56

      Jesus never married (although he plans to get married someday) and had sex with no one. 

       The marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. Revelation 19:7

      And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. Revelation 21:9

    In my name they shall take up serpents

    The last thing that Jesus supposedly said to his followers before beaming up to heaven after his resurrection was this:
    And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mark 16:17-18
    Jesus said there are five signs of true believers, and one of them is handling snakes -- and walking on them.
    Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19
    There just aren't many true believers anymore.

    And now there is one less.

    Some Bible verses for Mother's Day

    It's not easy to find a good Bible verse for Mother's Day.
    But here are the best I can find.

    From the book of Hosea.
    Plead with your mother, plead: ... let her ... put away her whoredoms ... and her adulteries from between her breasts;  Lest I strip her naked ... and slay her with thirst.  
    And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms. ...For their mother hath played the harlot.
    Now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of mine hand. Hosea 2:2-10
    Give them, O LORD: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts. ... I will love them no more.  ... Yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb. Hosea 9:14-16
     Their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up. Hosea 13:16
    And Deuteronomy.
    The tender and delicate woman among you ... her eye shall be evil ... toward her son, and toward her daughter, And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them. Deuteronomy 28:56-57

    I am come to set ... the daughter against her mother. ... He that loveth ... mother more than me is not worthy of me.  Matthew 10:35-37
    Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.  Luke 11:27-28 
    If any man come to me, and hate not his ... mother ... he cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26 
    Behold, thy mother ... seek(s) for thee. And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother? Mark 3:32-33

    Any of these would look nice on a Mother's Day card, don't you think?

    What the Bible says about Homosexuality

    Homosexuality is an abomination to God (like shrimp).

    Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Leviticus 18:22

    Except that unlike eating shrimp, the punishment for homosexuality is death.

    If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. Leviticus 20:13

    Or exile.

    Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD ... And he took away the sodomites out of the land. ... Asa's heart was perfect with the LORD all his days. 1 Kings 15:11-14

    Jehoshaphat ... walked in all the ways of Asa his father ... doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD ... The remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land. 1 Kings 22:42-46

    And the New Testament is just as intolerant toward homosexuals.

    For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature. And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. (God will make you gay!) Romans 1:26-27

    God gave them over to a reprobate mind ... without natural affection ... they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. Romans 1:28-32

    The unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom ... neither fornicators ... nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind ... shall inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

    Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for ... them that defile themselves with mankind ... and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine ... These filthy dreamers defile the flesh. 1 Timothy 1:9-10

    Even as Sodom and Gomorrha ... giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh ... suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Jude 7-8

    Except for Jesus (who hung out with 12 guys and never said anything bad about homosexuality) who said that  you can increase your chances of being raptured by being gay. (So pray to be gay!)

    I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Luke 17:34-35

    And finally, rejoice and be glad when you see homosexuals (lead about by silly, lusty, educated women), because then you'll know for sure that Jesus is coming soon.

    In the last days ... men shall be ... without natural affection ... lovers of pleasures ... lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ... ever learning. 2 Timothy 3:1-7

    Luke 17:34 and Pray to be Gay Day

    I don't know how I missed this before, but I did.

    Luke 17:34, that is.
    I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
     And since Jesus clearly said that only a small minority would be saved,
    Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. Luke 13:23-24
    Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Matthew 7:13-14
    the best way to improve your chances of being saved, if you are a man, is to go to bed with another man. (50% is better than a virtually zero chance.)

    Or to spend you time grinding with other women, if you're a woman, as Jesus said in Luke 17:35.
    Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
    But what if you're not blessed enough to be gay? It's not too late: Pray to be gay!

    What Jesus said about 'Job Creators'

    As Jon Stewart points out, we are no longer allowed to say that rich people are rich. "You have to refer to them as 'job creators.' You can't even use the word 'rich'. You have to say, 'This chocolate cake is so moist and job creator.'"

    Well then, here's what Jesus said about job creators.

    Verily I say unto you, That a rich man job creator shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man job creator to enter into the kingdom of God. Matthew 19:23-24, Mark 10:25, Luke 18:25
    Woe to you that are rich job creators! for ye have received your consolation. Luke 6:24
    There was a certain rich man job creator, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

    And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

    And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's job creator's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

    And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man job creator also died, and was buried;

    And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

    And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

    But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. Luke 16:19-25

    Clearly, according to Jesus, job creators are going to hell. Their best hope for salvation is higher taxes. The more we tax them, the greater their chance of making it through the eye of the needle.

    So let's save the job creators by taxing the hell out of them.

    Forget Camping: What Jesus said about the end of the world

    Last month (seems longer ago than that, doesn't it?), Harold Camping predicted that the world would end at 6 pm local time on May 21, 2011. He figured it would have to happen then since it was exactly 7000 years after it started raining on Noah's ark.

    He'd have never made that mistake, if he'd just listened to Jesus.

    Here's what Jesus said about the end of the world.
    (The synoptic gospels disagree a bit about the order of events, but this list is as close as I could get to what Jesus supposedly said.)

    Before the end comes the following things must happen:

    1. Many false Christs and false prophets will show off signs and wonders that will deceive many people. Some will claim the end is near. Don't believe them.
      Many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. Matthew 24:5
      Many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. Matthew 24:11
      If any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Matthew 24:23-24
      Many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. Mark 13:6
      Many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. Luke 21:8
      (I haven't noticed many "false Christs" or "great signs and wonders" lately, though there have been a few like Harold Camping, Hal Lindsey, William Miller, and the Jehovah's Witnesses that have said "the time draweth near." But they've been doing that forever. And they're always wrong.)

    2. There will be wars, rumors of wars, and commotions. (Ignore all that.)
      Ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. Matthew 24:6
      Ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. Mark 13:7
      When ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. Luke 21:9
      (There will be wars. OK, he was right about that. But it hasn't been very helpful in setting the date for the end of the world.)

    3. There will be earthquakes, famines, troubles, pestilences, fearful sights, and great signs from heaven. (This is just the beginning of sorrows.)
      There shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Matthew 24:7-8
      There shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. Mark 13:8
      Great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. Luke 21:11
      (This is one of the stupidest things Jesus is said to have said. There have always been earthquakes, diseases, etc. Couldn't God find a better way to communicate with us?)

    4. Believers will be arrested, beaten, persecuted, and killed by Jews and kings.
      Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you. Matthew 24:9
      They shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them. Mark 13:9
      They shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. Luke 21:12
      (This one has happened now and then, and still happens today in some parts of the world, though not noticeably more today than in in the past. But when did Jews persecute Christians? Seems like Jesus got this one backwards.)

    5. But not a hair on a believer's head will perish. (Even if they are killed.)
      But there shall not an hair of your head perish. Luke 21:18
      (Since the visible part of hair is dead, I suppose Jesus was sort of right about this one. I guess the end is near.)

    6. Believers will be hated by everyone (for Christ's sake).
      Ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. Matthew 24:9
      Ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. Mark 13:13
      Ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. Luke 21:17
      (The religious right in the United States is starting to make this one come true.)

    7. Believers will hate one another.
      Then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. Matthew 24:10

      (Believers have been fighting among themselves since the time Jesus supposedly said this, but less today than in the past.)

    8. Friends and family will betray each other and some will be put to death.
      Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. Mark 13:12
      Ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. Luke 21:16
      (Have believers been betraying their family and friends to avoid persecution lately?)

    9. Iniquity will abound and love wax cold. (But don't worry. If you make it this far, you'll be saved.)
      Iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Matthew 24:12-13
      He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Mark 13:13
      (Is there more iniquity or less love than usual? I hadn't noticed. Still, I am encouraged since I've endured this far. I guess I'm saved after all.)

    10. The gospel will be preached to all nations (and then the end will come).
      This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Matthew 24:14
      The gospel must first be published among all nations. Mark 13:10
      (This one happened a long time ago. Paul even claimed it had happened back in his day. The entire world is sick of hearing about Jesus. Stop already!)

    11. The abomination of desolations will be displayed where it shouldn't be. (When you see this, it's time to head for the hills. Whoso readeth, let him understand.)
      When ye ... see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:Matthew 24:15-16
      When ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains. Mark 13:14
      (Nobody knows what the hell Jesus was talking about here.)

    12. Pregnant and nursing women will be especially screwed.
      Woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! Matthew 24:19
      Woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! Mark 13:17

      (There's plenty of fear today, but is there any more than usual? And I'm pretty sure the powers of heaven haven't been shaken.)

    16. The sun and moon will darken, the stars will fall down from the sky, the powers of heaven will shake, and waves on the sea will roar.
      The sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. Matthew 24:29

      (Jesus was talking about things that he knew nothing about. Ignore him.)

      (Everyone will get to see Jesus come. He'll come in the clouds like lightning, with one great and powerful splurge of omnipotence. Don't miss it.)

    So there you have it. That is what Jesus supposedly said about his own second coming and the end of the world. And he ought to know.

    Except that it turns out he didn't. He had no idea when he was scheduled to return. Here's what he said about it (after he told everyone when he'd return).

    So forget Harold Camping. And forget Jesus, too.

    Jesus: I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven

    Jesus was struck by lightning last night. I guess this is what he was talking about when told his disciples:

    I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Luke 10:18

    Of course, Jesus was in one of his crazy moods at the time. Here's what he said right after his vision of Satan.

    Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions ... and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19

    Conservapedia is fixing the Bible (to make it fair and balanced)

    This is going to be fun to watch! Conservapedia is doing the Bible the way Fox does the news.

    The Conservative Bible Project is completely re-doing the Bible to make it fair and balanced by removing its well-known liberal bias. It's about time someone did that.

    Here's an example.

    You've probably heard through the liberal media that Jesus said while he was dying on the cross: "Forgive them father, for they no not what they do." Well that is a liberal falsehood. (He actually said, "You're all going to fry forever in Hell for this.") The liberals that created the KJV just added that verse to make Jesus look like fucking hippie.

    But they haven't Conservapediaed this verse yet. They've only done Philemon and Mark 1-7 so far. (I guess they started with the New Testament since there's more liberal shit (i.e., good stuff) in there. Heck, they may just leave the Old Testament alone. It's already fair and balanced.

    Here are a few verses that they've corrected so far.

    KJV:
    And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. Mark 4:10-12

    Conservapedia Version:
    Privately a few along with the twelve Apostles asked Jesus about the parable. He said to them, "You have been granted insight into the kingdom of God, but to others the parables contain the mysteries: that they may see but not perceive and hear but not understand; yet should they convert, then their sins shall be forgiven."

    I guess sometimes Jesus is just too conservative for Conservapedia. In the KJV, Jesus explains why he speaks in parables: to confuse people so that they won't be converted (and will therefore go to Hell). Conservapedia gives it a new, liberal spin. Jesus talked in parables so that people wouldn't understand, but if they (somehow) convert (after being confused by the parables) their sins will be forgiven.

    Here's another one where Jesus is going rogue and needs correction.

    KJV:
    And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death. Mark 7:9-10

    Conservapedia Version:
    Isaiah also told them, 'You turn your backs on the commandment of God, in order to cling to your own customs.' For Moses said, 'Honor your father and mother; and whoever curses his father or mother should receive the death penalty';

    Once again, Jesus is just too conservative for Conservapedia. Jesus wouldn't say that the Pharisees should execute children for cursing their parents. (Sarah Palin might, but Jesus wouldn't.) So they blame it on Isaiah instead.

    So some passages are too liberal and some are too conservative. But some are just right. Take Mark 4:25, for example.

    KJV:
    For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

    Conservapedia Version:
    "He who has will be given, while he doesn't will see that little which he has taken from him."

    Now that's a fair and balanced verse!


    This is one of those really bad ideas that will die quickly. So see it now because it won't last long. (I suspect that Andy Schlafly and his mom are busy trying to find the least embarrassing way to quietly kill it.)

    Happy Blasphemy Day!

    It's finally here: Blasphemy Day. So get out and blaspheme, gosh darn it.

    But before you do, I thought I'd let you know what the Bible says about blasphemy.

    1. Blasphemers must be stoned to death.
      And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying ... he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him. Leviticus 24:13-16

    2. If you cause others to blaspheme, God might just have to kill your child, like he did to David and Bathsheba's baby boy.
      Because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die ... And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick ... And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. 2 Samuel 12:14-18
    3. If you blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, God will never forgive you.
      (Fucking Holy Ghost!)

    6. To avoid blasphemy, wives must obey their husbands.
      Teach the young women to be ... obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. Titus 2:4-5
    7. And, of course, Jews are blaspheming members of the synagogue of Satan.
      I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. Revelation 2:9

    8. Someday there will be a beast that comes out of the sea that has seven heads with a blasphemous name (Jesus Fucker) written on each head.

    The Parable of the Good Gay Guy

    Can you imagine a modern-day preacher coming up with a parable about the good gay guy? (Iranian, black man, atheist,etc.) Most people would find that pretty offensive, since it implies that there aren't many good gay people. Why then aren't we also offended by the parable of the good Samaritan?

    Why Christian "Marriage" is Wrong

    Christians claim that the Bible condemns gay marriage. It doesn't.*

    The Bible says nothing at all about gay marriage. But it has plenty to say about Christian "marriage."

    1. The Bible says that Christians should not marry.
      (God doesn't want Christians to marry. We shouldn't either.)
      Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. 1 Corinthians 7:27
      For I would that all men were even as I myself.... I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. 1 Corinthians 7:7-9

    2. But if a Christian man decides to get married (which he shouldn't), he can have more than one wife.
      If he take him another wife.... Exodus 21:10

    3. And if he doesn't like one of his wives (like if she's unclean or ugly or something), he can divorce her.
      When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. Deuteronomy 24:1

    4. If a Christian man gets married and then discovers on his wedding night that his new wife is not a virgin, then he and the other Christian men must stone her to death.

    *The Bible tell us to kill homosexuals (Leviticus 20:13). Dead people seldom marry.

    Remember Lot's Wife (Forget Jesus)

    Although this is God's fourth killing event, it is the first of God's 2,552,452 countable victims.

    It's interesting that God's first countable victim is unnamed. God killed Mrs. Lot without even knowing (or at least telling us) her name.

    And what was it that got God's attention? What did she do that caused him to kill her?

    She looked back at the place she had lived all her life. She looked back as her family, friends, and neighbors were being smashed and burned to death by God. She looked back.

    But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. Genesis 19.26
    And, of course, the angel told her not to.
    The angels hastened Lot, saying ... take thy wife, and thy two daughters ... Look not behind thee ... lest thou be consumed. Genesis 19:15-17
    Or did he?

    Who was the angel talking to here? To Lot alone or to him and his family? And if it was to Lot alone, did Lot tell his wife? Would it matter to God if no one bothered to tell her? Would he kill her anyway?

    Who knows? Or cares? A God who would kill a woman for looking back as everyone she has ever known [except for her “just and righteous husband” (2 Peter 2.7-8) and her father-fucking virgin daughters (Genesis 19.30-38)] is being burned to death, is a monster God. An arbitrary, random killer.

    I have met Christians who ignore this story, as they ignore pretty much everything else in the Old Testament. They sometimes call themselves "Red Letter Christians," meaning that they base their beliefs on the words of Jesus.

    But Jesus believed in the story about Sodom and Gomorrah; he believed in the story about Lot's wife. He saw nothing wrong with any of it. In fact, he said that when he returns at the end of the world it will be just like that. You can check for yourself in your Red Letter Bible.
    As it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. … Remember Lot's wife. Luke 17.26-32
    Jesus had no problem with God's first two mass murders (the flood of Noah  and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah ), or with God's killing of Lot's wife. It'll be just like that at the end of the world, if Jesus has anything to say about it. He is just as nasty as the Old Testament God. Maybe nastier.

    So remember Lot's wife. And forget Jesus.

    Top Ten Abominations to God

    When the subject of abominations comes up, most people think of homosexuality, because that is one of the few things that God hasn't changed his mind about since he became a born again Christian a couple thousand years ago. God still likes Leviticus 18:22, although he's softened up a bit on Leviticus 20:13.

    Here are ten other things that are (or were) abominations to the non-denominational, pre-Christian Bible-God. (In God's favorite order -- biblical!)

    1. Lobsters, shrimp, clams, octopus, and squids
      Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you. Leviticus 11:12
    2. Four-legged fowls
      All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you. Leviticus 11:20
    3. Four-footed flying, creeping things
      But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you. Leviticus 11:23
