The Gospel According to Sarah Palin

I may have misunderstood Sarah Palin's comment in my previous post.

She wasn't confusing First Corinthians with the gospels; she was referring to this statement by Phil Robertson, the one Greta Van Susterennd asked her about:
It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus.
Here is Van Susterend's question:
Do you have any problem about the manners of how he said it. I mean, we don't talk on television much, but if you actually read the article, there's some rather graphic and offensive description of it. ... Do you have any objection on the manners aspect, how he said it?
And here is Palin's answer:
I haven't read the article. I don't know exactly how he said it. But Greta, what he was doing in response to a question about a lifestyle that he disagrees with and yet he has said over and over again he doesn't hate the person engaging in a lifestyle he disagrees with, but he, um, in response was quoting the gospel.
So when Robertson was discussing the male desirability for anuses and vaginas, he was quoting the gospel--the Gospel According to Sarah Palin.

Here's the relevant part of the interview, in case you haven't seen it yet.

Sarah Palin has one of those brains - like so many people - that is not careful. Someone is "quoting the gospel" if they are saying something that has its roots in the bible. Her brain simply doesn't know the difference between quoting something and agreeing with something. Her brain doesn't work carefully.

And that's why religion persists. Brains that are not careful - brains that loosely estimate, that think fuzzily - accept conclusions handed to them and cling to them without careful thought. And this careless thinking is passed on and on from gen to gen.
